HOW TO delegate users in RightFax 9.0
You may want to designate fax users as delegates to a perticular fax mailbox, for viewing, replying, sending, editing, deleting faxes. This is a usual requirement if a shared fax mailbox is being used, like call centre or a department fax mailbox etc, wherein all the faxes are received in a single mailbox and all users log-on/connect to this fax mailbox with there respective permission set.
For example, In a call centre wherein you may want all the call centre agents to have permission to logon to a centralized fax mailbox used for receiving faxes from customers. All call centre agent logon to this fax mailbox to view faxes or reply according to there respective permissions.
To designating users as delegates to a fax mailbox, follow the below:
HOW TO Automate http to https Redirection of Web Interface for XenApp
Enterprise customers will often make one of the following choices:
• Leave the Web Interface homepage as an unsecured URL, ergo with the http:// prefix
• Force users to remember the https:// prefix to the Web Interface URL
• Redirect the Web Interface homepage from an http:// URL to an https:// URL
There are associated risks involved with each of these choices. Passwords will be transmitted over the network in clear-text if the Web Interface homepage is left unsecured (with an http:// prefixed URL).Forcing users to remember the https:// prefix to a secured URL may require end user training and result in additional help desk calls. The choice made by many Enterprises is to redirect the Web Interface homepage to a secured URL.

How it Works
- The end user opens their web browser and types the unsecured URL to the Web Interface server, such as http://citrix.itgeeeks.com.
- Before being presented with the Web Interface login screen, the end-user is redirected by the IIS server.
- The IIS server will redirect the end-user to a secured URL.
- The secured URL is populated in the end-user’s web browser.
- The end-user is now presented with the secured URL without being prompted for additional information. This will ensure that the end-user’s credentials are encrypted using SSL.

HOW TO Get an ICA File Through Citrix Web Interface
In Web Interface versions earlier than 4.5, you can obtain the ICA file contents using Internet Explorer by using the Save Target As… option when using a link in the applications page (or a similar operation in other Web browsers). When using Web Interface 4.5 or later, this operation no longer results in the ICA file being downloaded.
Web Interface 4.5
Using HTTP
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. From the Tools menu, click Folder options…
3. Select the File Types tab.
4. Select the ICA / Citrix ICA Client extension.
5. Click Advanced and select the Confirm open after download check box.
6. Click OK and then click Close.
Once this is done, each time the application launch is attempted (by clicking the application launch link), a dialogue displays asking if you want to open or save the ICA file. Clicking Open launches the application. Clicking Save allows you to save the ICA file to the desired location.
“Access denied: if you are a delegate of this user, please request that the delegate grant you this permission”
The error “Access denied: if you are a delegate of this user, please request that the delegate grant you this permission” is because from RightFax 9.0 not all the administrators are allowed to delegate permission on user mailboxes, offcourse this is for security reasons. To allow additional administrators for delgating or browsing other users mailboxes the default RightFax administrator has to grant permission “Administrator Can Bypass Privacy Restrictions” explicitly.
To allow additional administrators this permission follow the below:
RightFax 8.7 Active Directory Synchronization
With the RightFax 8.7 Active Directory Synchronization you dont need to create users manually in RightFax, if you have Active directory in place simply synchronize it with RightFax. This is a simple process to populate users in RightFax. Since this process edits the Active directory schema it needs scheme admin privileges. However this is a one time requirement during the RightFax 8.7 active directory synchronization setup only.
- Open the EFM
- Open properties of Workserver module and
- Active Directory sync.
- For details on the changes to Active Directory Schema refer to CaptarisSyncSchema.xml on the RightFax Server installation folder.
- It is always recommended to create a RightFax users group and Active Directory Sync should be configured to synchronizing RightFax users group ONLY. Any new fax user should be added to the group and RightFax server will synchronize the new user and the user will then be able to send fax through RightFax.
*Additional to the users replication you have to do the necessary user configuration, ex, routing code, inbound routing etc.
Exchange 2003 outbound email issue
Yesterday it was a good happy day off for me until I received a call from my helpdesk that exchange outbound email is not working. Well it is known issue to my team since our last troubleshooting session with Microsoft consultant. However this post could help for exchange admins out there troubleshooting the same issue.
Let us now discuss the issue, its workaround, & the permanent solution.
Issue
Outbound email does not work with the following conditions true
- You cannot send emails outside the organization.
- You have an exchange frontend backend scenario.
- You are using PPTP connection between the frontend and the backend exchange server.
- You cannot ping your domain controller from the exchange frontend server.
- ‘Message with unreachable destination queue’ keeps increasing.
HOW TO delegate user to modify fax number & telephone number attributes in AD
Most of the organizations delegates more permissions to users then required for his given job responsibility or task. You may see a very junior administrator or 10+ users in the enterprise/domain admins group. This is a serious security threat & adding an inexperienced administrator in the enterprise/domain administrators groups could be disastrous. Permission control should be treated as an initial step towards a healthier and optimized Active Directory and always remember to grant the right permission for the right person or task Below snapshots highlighting attributes ‘Fax number’ & ‘telephone number’ on which we will delegate a user to modify in active directory user properties for a given domain. Note: Delegation inheritance is per user based and is enabled by default; please verify this setting in case of issues. Firstly, is the permission for all the domain or specific OU? If it is for all users in the domain, right click on the root or on the OU and Select “delegate control “
Tool - Citrix PowerSmart Utility for Presentation Server
Today, it’s common to find dozens to hundreds of Presentation Servers at typical customer sites powered up and running all night and throughout weekends, with very little actual user loads present. These servers are needlessly consuming power and generating data center heat.
This free Citrix PowerSmart Utility attempts to help customers reduce power consumption by powering off idle Presentation Servers during off business hours. Read the detailed post here
